With profound grief and deep sorrow, we regret to inform the sad demise of Veteran Col Dina Nath (93 yrs), f/o Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan on 11 Apr 2019 at MH, Zakhama (Nagaland) due to cardiac arrest.
Born on 15 Aug 1926, the Col was commissioned into 41 DOGRA in 1946. He was a second generation soldier. His father was a twice decorated veteran of First World War. Later, in 1948, he was transferred to newly raised 11 GR and served in 3/11 GR and other units. He later commanded a Wing of 10 AR at Mokokchung from 1961 to 1963. He loved to be in Nagaland and therefore he was cremated at Kohima. He retired from service in 1982, after a tenure of 36 years of meritorious service in the Indian Army.
Col Dina Nath was a very good Regimental Officer who kept himself abreast with the Kiranti-Centric News even after his retirement. He will be missed by the Regiment. The void created due to his demise would be difficult to fill.
On behalf of Gen Bipin Rawat, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC, COAS, President Gorkha Bde and Col 11 GR & Sikkim Scouts and all ranks of the Regiment, we pray to Durga Mata to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
He is survived by Lt Gen & Mrs Shokin Chauhan and grandson, Nihal and his wife Arami Kim and his daughter, Miss Natasha Chauhan.
