Regimental Land

The Regimental Land (Indrapuri), measuring 110 bighas is located at village Mathronwala, Clement Town, Dehradun. On its move to Clement Town, Dehradun from Palampur, the Centre acquired 20.75 acres of land at above location. The land was used for farming and remained in the physical possession till 1972. Thereafter, it was leased out to three retired JCOs of the Regiment on renewable annual lease. The subsequent move of the Centre to Darjeeling in 1976 and the refusal of the JCOs to vacate the land resulted in a number of encroachments and civil suits in lower courts and Allahabad High Court. The said land has now been bought in physical possession after prolonged legal battles. The entire land has been fenced off with RCC pillars having barbed wire strands.
Extensive plantation was carried out on our land. A total of 7313 plants  survived (546 of Tun, 2083 of Eucalyptus, 224 of Silver Oak, 220 of Lichi, 422 of Bamboo, 3752 of Poplar, 16 of Teak and 50 of Texodiun).Leaving the fruit bearing trees  all other trees have now been cut in 2009. Brig CB Thapa was given the land in Jul 2009 on renewable lease and now the land being devoloped for farming and dairy farming.
It would be appropriate to place on record our thanks to Lt Gen (Retd) JBS Yadava, PVSM, AVSM, VrC, VSM, The ex colonel 11GR, under whose guidance and support it became possible for the Regiment to get the land back with the untiring efforts of, Brig SS Uppal, Brig KVS Lalotra,  YSM,SM, Col Hardev Singh, Brig AK Chaudhary, Lt Col GS Pathania & Lt Col Anurudh Negi.
