1. It is to inform the tragic and unfortunate demise of IC-91128W Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari of 1st Battalion Sikkim Scouts (11 GR), who laid down his life in the line of duty on 22 May 2025.

2. On 22 May 2025, while volunteering to lead a patrol, Lt Shashank & his team were opening the route to Temporary Operating Base. Tragedy struck at 1110h when Agniveer Stephen Subba slipped while crossing a log bridge and was being swept away by fast-flowing Nala. Without hesitation, Lt Shashank Tiwari leapt into the raging waters, disregarding his own life and personal safety, to rescue his fellow soldier. Lt Shashank Tiwari managed to save Agniveer Stephen Subba, who also had sustained injuries. Unfortunately, in this effort Lt Shashank was accidently dragged into fast moving current of water which swept him away.
