Boys’ Sports Company


 The Boys Sports Coy scheme was started in 1992 as a joint venture between the Army and Sports Authority of India, with the aim of selecting and grooming potential talent in selected sports discipline so that 100% boys represent services and at least 50% boys reach National level, 25% boys are able to represent the country at International level and 2-3% boys reach Olympics level.

 On completion of class 10th, the boys will be recruited in the Army.

Selection Criteria

 Boys belonging to Uttar Pradesh, Uttranchal , Assam, Darjeeling and Sikkim, who are citizens of India, between 11 and 14 years of age as on concluding of that academic year, medically fit, are selected by board of offrs/SAI representatives are eligible for entry into the 11 GRRC Boys Sports Company.  Class and caste composition have no bearing on the eligibility.

     The basic QR for the selection of young potential boys into BSC are :-
     Should be medically fit.
    The boy should have passed class VI before entry into BSC.
 Height and Weight Criteria

  11 yrs - Ht min 150 cms and Wt 32 kgs.
  12 yrs - Ht min 153 cms and Wt 35 kgs.
  13 yrs - Ht min 155 cms and Wt 42 kgs.
  14 yrs - Ht min 160 cms and Wt 47 kgs.

 The preference is given to the boys who have represented sub junior National/State level/Zonal level tournament in Football, Boxing and Shooting events OR holding one of the first three positions in the individual events.  After medical examination they will be given entry into the 11 GRRC, BSC.

 11 GRRC sends Talent Scouting Team comprising  selected officers, Junior Commissioned Officer and OR to their catchment areas for selecting potential young boys.  The boys initially screened are given call letters to come for the final selection trials to be held in the centre.  The final selection is done by a board of officers.  The Sports Authority of India and Sports Medicine Centre representatives are also present during selection trials to judge the technical skill in the above sports events.

 The Boys finally selected are trained under the expert SAI coaches.  The complete expenses incurred for their Training, Education, boarding and lodging, insurance, sports kits and medical expenses are borne by the Govt.

11 GRRC  Sports Company has made considerable achievements since it raising on 01 April 05.
