Comissioned in 1964 as a SS officer, he saw action in 1965 Indo-Pak war where he was wounded and evacuated to Military Hospital in Delhi. He served with the Battalion in Nahan, Dharamshala and Ladakh. He was an excellent Conversationalist, a happy go lucky and a thorough bred Regimental Officer. He left the Army in 1969 after finishing his contract when the Battalion was in Ladakh. But, he continued to remain in touch with the Battalion and the Regiment. Later, he joined Ministry of Works and Housing at Delhi from where he finally retired as Deputy Secretary.
He is survived by Mrs Saroj Ghosh (Wife), and two sons ; Barun and Tarun and daughter Rupali, all of whom are well settled. Condolence messages may be sent as per following details :-
